Blackmill has quietly built a massive following, on his own, away from the media spotlight via his Youtube Channel and his Soundcloud.

Robert Card, 20, Highlands, Scotland. Melodic dubstep producer from Scotland, influenced by Bob Marley, Mt Eden and Bar 9. Blackmill started of producing music at the age of 8 when he received his first musical instrument for his birthday – an Acoustic Guitar which he still plays to this day. Although he loved to play it in 2005 he discovered a musical software program called FL Studio. He was hooked straight away on producing Electronic Music. At the age of 15 he started producing trance and uploading them to youtube under the name “Robert J.C” As Dubstep grew throughout 2010 Blackmill took a shine to this new genre.

Robert Card

After producing Trance from 2008-2010 under the alias “Robert J.C” Blackmill heard the genre Dubstep and had the idea of combining the two, Melodic Dubstep as he calls it was born. He pushed out a remix of Ellie Goulding’s cover of Elton John’s “Your Song” which went viral after Ellie Goulding herself posted it on her Facebook.

On February 28th, 2011, saw Blackmill’s first release, his debut album “Reach For Glory” which continues to sell very well. December 21st 2011 saw the release of Blackmill’s second album “Miracle” which today is selling extremely well. In February, 2012, Blackmill’s song “Evil Beauty” was featured on the BBC Series “Hustle” Episode 6 which again gave him another large boast in publicity.

Blackmill still continues to produce Melodic Dubstep which has proven to be a big hit reaching over 30 million hits on his personal Youtube Channel alone in under 3 years. Blackmill is currently working on a third album which was to be released 2012/2013 but has not released it yet.

He recently announced he was creating songs in different genres, and was going to be soon back on the scene with new dubstep and other types of music (View our article about it here). Blackmill quotes from the release of his new tropical house song Feel That Love Again –

” So after 4 years I’ve managed to complete a song! This was originally a side project but continued it as I thought it had potential. Hope you like it!

Don’t worry if it’s not your taste and is too different. Next track will be a Melodic Dubstep tune :) You might have noticed how I produce lots of different genres, that will always be the case :)
